Bribery at the Directorate of Migration

A government official and a business operator (tradesman) are being tried in custody in the Alanya 3rd High Criminal Court on charges of accepting bribes. They are accused of issuing fake residence permits to foreigners and collecting $3,000 per file as a bribe. Witness statements revealed that 30,000 files were reviewed at the Directorate of Migration, and deficiencies were found in 18 of them. The defendants denied the charges, and the hearing was postponed to July 11.
