Tragic accident on Akseki-Manavgat highway: Truck driver crushed under overturned egg truck

On the Akseki-Manavgat highway in Antalya, a truck loaded with eggs, reportedly heading towards Alanya, lost control and overturned. The driver, Osman Öztürk (60), was trapped under the vehicle and died in the accident. It took rescue teams hours to reach his body.

The accident occurred around 8:00 PM in the Manayıt area. The truck, bearing license plate 07 LEG 98 and driven by Osman Öztürk, failed to navigate a sharp turn and veered off the road into a rocky area. The vehicle overturned with a loud crash, causing panic in the area.

Upon notification, multiple emergency response teams, including ambulances, fire rescue from Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, traffic police from the Akseki Station, and gendarmerie from Taşlıca, were dispatched to the scene. Due to the driver being trapped underneath, the rescue operation was extremely difficult and time-consuming.

Eventually, a crane was brought in to lift the truck, allowing the teams to recover the driver’s lifeless body. Medical personnel confirmed that Osman Öztürk had died at the scene. His body was taken to Akseki State Hospital morgue after a detailed investigation by the prosecutor. Traffic was briefly controlled in the area, and a comprehensive investigation is underway.
