Another innovation in Alanya! They will provide free charging

Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) Expands Green Campus Projects with Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University (ALKÜ) has added a new initiative to its ongoing green campus projects by installing electric vehicle charging stations with a total capacity of 9 vehicles at 7 different locations within the campus to promote sustainable transportation.
Starting with its Solar Power Plant (GES) project, ALKÜ’s sustainability and zero-waste initiatives continue to advance rapidly. Now, ALKÜ has begun setting up electric vehicle charging stations at 9 locations within the campus, including strategic areas like the GES-supported Carport (solar panel shaded parking systems). With this step, the university aims to promote low-carbon transportation, increase the use of electric vehicles, and integrate eco-friendly technologies into daily life.
This vision extends beyond the university itself, as feasibility and technical planning studies have also been initiated to establish special charging stations for individuals using electric wheelchairs throughout Alanya, aiming for a more accessible city. Additionally, disabled students will be able to charge their electric wheelchairs for free in front of the Faculty of Education, which has received the Orange Flag certification.
SUSTAINABLE GREEN CAMPUS PROJECTS GROWING
Recently, ALKÜ has been making tangible and effective progress toward sustainability and eco-friendly campus goals. The university’s Solar Power Plant project drew attention quickly, earning third place nationally in the 10th Efficiency Project Awards organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. ALKÜ was the only university awarded nationwide, confirming its vision in energy management and environmental responsibility. The project also contributed to reducing the campus's total energy expenses to zero.
All these activities for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability are conducted in compliance with international standards, certified by ISO 50001 Energy Management System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. These achievements have also helped ALKÜ rise to second place among young universities in the GreenMetric ranking.
RECTOR TÜRKDOĞAN: “WE AIM TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE OF OUR CITY”
Prof. Dr. Kenan Ahmet Türkdoğan, Rector of ALKÜ, stated:
“Our sustainability journey, which began with the Solar Power Plant project, has now become a nationally recognized success. Being third in Turkey and the only university to receive an award at the Efficiency Project Awards held by our Ministry of Industry and Technology is a great honor for us. We see this success not just as an award but as a debt we owe to the future. We are now expanding this vision with concrete investments such as the electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Our goal is to contribute not only to our campus but also to the sustainable future of our city.”
ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATOR LEYLA AKBULUT:
Leyla Akbulut, ALKÜ’s Energy Management and Sustainability Coordinator, commented:
“ALKÜ continues to successfully lead regional development and fulfill the pioneering role that universities can play in the Turkey Century vision with projects that transform scientific production into environmental and social benefits.”
