Alanya Warned: "Take Photos Immediately and Report It!"

Serter Kocababa, President of the Antalya Branch of the Chamber of Survey and Cadastre Engineers (HKMO), called on the public to photograph coastal violations in Alanya and throughout Antalya and report them to the relevant municipality, district governorate, or the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.

Kocababa emphasized that the coasts of Alanya and Antalya are public areas open to everyone and that no business has the right to block citizens’ access. Referring to Article 43 of the Constitution, he underlined that the coasts are under the authority of the state and that everyone has the right to use them freely and equally.

He noted that they have received complaints about beaches being closed off in Antalya and encouraged citizens to act when faced with such violations—first by taking photos and then submitting complaints to the relevant authorities. If no resolution is reached at the municipal level, applications should be made to the Provincial Directorate or the district governorates.

Kocababa stated that in response to warnings like "You can't swim here" from businesses, citizens should remind them that coasts are public property and, if necessary, seek their rights through legal channels.

He also announced that HKMO will organize a "Coastal Workshop" in late June or early July to address legal gaps and implementation issues in the Coastal Law. The event will include academics, legal experts, and public officials, and the results will be shared with the public and relevant institutions.
