Power outages in Alanya become a matter of life and death: Elderly man fights to survive

Power outages threaten the life of a disabled man dependent on a ventilator in Alanya’s Demirtaş neighborhood.
According to claims by a family living in the Demirtaş neighborhood of Alanya, ongoing power cuts are endangering the life of a man who is 94% disabled and reliant on a ventilator.
TURNED INTO A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH
A family residing on Mecekler Street in Demirtaş, Alanya, stated that prolonged power outages in the area have put the life of a ventilator-dependent patient at risk. Power cuts implemented by CK Akdeniz Electricity Distribution Inc. as part of wildfire prevention measures reportedly last up to 8–10 hours a day.
“MY FATHER IS 94% DISABLED AND DEPENDENT ON A VENTILATOR”
The citizen filed a complaint on “şikayetvar.com,” saying:
“My father is 94% disabled and dependent on a breathing machine. Power was cut again at 00:31 last night. For a week now, CK Electric has been implementing long outages every day under the pretext of fire safety. However, our home is 20 kilometers from the forested area. There are no trees here—just rocky terrain. Why is our neighborhood the only one affected?”
“THEY ARE NOT HELPING BUT HINDERING US”
The resident noted that life-support devices are left without power, adding:
“We have submitted our medical reports to CK Electric, but no solution has been provided. Our line is connected to the village line; we demand that it be separated. This is not a minor technical issue—it’s about my father’s life. Please hear our plea and help us.”
