Russian-speaking lawyer sparks debate in Alanya over social media posts about property rights. Legal professionals say such promotions violate the ethics of the legal profession, while real estate experts stress the importance of working with authorized professionals when purchasing property.
In Alanya, social media posts by lawyer Ö.T., who broadcasts in Russian, have become a hot topic. In a Russian-language post directed at Russians, Ö.T. shared: "We bought an apartment under construction in Turkey, but things didn’t go as planned..." and discussed various legal rights buyers may not be aware of.

Ali Görgülü, Vice President of the Antalya Bar Association, stated that in such cases, the bar initiates a disciplinary investigation to assess whether the post violates professional conduct rules. If a breach is found, disciplinary proceedings may follow, with the final decision being made by the bar’s disciplinary board.
‘VIOLATES LAWYER ADVERTISING BAN’
Mehmet Fatih Önsöz, President of the Legal Thought Association, emphasized that such posts violate both the Legal Profession Act and the Lawyer Advertising Ban Regulation. He stated they conflict with the ethical values of the profession.
WARNING FROM REAL ESTATE SECTOR: WORK WITH AUTHORIZED PROFESSIONALS
Özgür Erbaş, President of the Alanya Real Estate Agents Association, urged buyers to work with certified real estate agents and consult their own lawyers. He warned the public against trusting individuals making promotional videos online.
‘WE ARE CLOSELY FOLLOWING THE ISSUE’
Mustafa Küçüker, President of the Alanya Contractors Association (MÜTBİR), said they are monitoring the situation closely and believe such advertisements by lawyers are legally prohibited.
