Medical cannabis products legalized for prescription sale in Turkish pharmacies

Medical cannabis products have been legalized for sale in pharmacies in Turkey, strictly by prescription and under controlled conditions. The bill, proposed by AK Party lawmakers, was passed by the Grand National Assembly. The regulation is seen as a new source of hope for patients suffering from chronic illnesses.

No narcotic effect

According to the new law, medical cannabis products with a THC level below 0.3% — meaning they do not have a narcotic effect — can only be obtained from licensed pharmacies. Online or alternative sales channels are strictly prohibited. Every step from cultivation to sale will be under the strict supervision of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
