Safari Terror Continues in Alanya: "You're Going to Burn Our Forests!"
Safari tours in Alanya, often criticized for water fights, dangerous driving maneuvers, and noise pollution, are now under fire for torch and firework shows held near forested areas. Despite the increasing risk of wildfires, these irresponsible displays have been described as an “invitation to disaster.”
Safari tours—one of Alanya’s most popular tourist activities—have once again sparked public outrage. During a time when wildfire risk is at its peak in the summer, some tour operators have been using torches and launching fireworks during excursions, causing serious concern among locals.
A concerned citizen, drawing attention to the recent forest fires across the country, voiced their frustration on social media: “Despite the ban on fireworks and other flammable/explosive materials, how are they being used so freely near forest areas? This is a disaster waiting to happen.”
In forested and rural areas where lighting fires is strictly prohibited, even a small spark can trigger massive destruction. Yet these so-called entertainment activities are blatantly disregarding environmental safety and public order.
Citizens are calling on authorities to intervene. There is an urgent demand for increased inspection of safari tours and the enforcement of strict penalties on operators who violate regulations. The public expects tourism activities to be conducted responsibly, without endangering nature or human safety.
