Breaking News: New Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Appointed in Antalya

Change in Antalya’s Provincial Gendarmerie Command
As part of the 2025 Gendarmerie appointments, the Provincial Gendarmerie Commander of Antalya has changed. The new commander is Major General Ahmet Kavukcu. Here are the full details and other promotions.
Major reshuffles have taken place in the Gendarmerie General Command and the Coast Guard Command. More than 40 provinces, including Antalya, have new commanders.
NEW COMMANDER FOR ANTALYA
Major General Ahmet Kavukcu has been appointed as the new Commander of the Antalya Provincial Gendarmerie. His predecessor, Major General Tarık Hekimoğlu, has been appointed as the Commander of Diyarbakır. These appointments were published in the Official Gazette under Presidential Decree No. 3.
PROMOTIONS AND HIGH-LEVEL REASSIGNMENTS
In total, 21 generals and colonels within the Gendarmerie and Coast Guard were promoted to higher ranks. According to the decree:
Major General Yusuf Kenan Topcu was promoted to Lieutenant General.
Brigadier Generals İdris Tataroğlu, Tarık Hekimoğlu, Emrullah Büyük, Ali Gemalmaz, and Zafer Tombul were promoted to Major General.
15 Colonels were promoted to Brigadier General.
78 OFFICERS REASSIGNED
The decree reassigned 78 generals and colonels. Some notable appointments include:
Lieutenant General Aykut Tanrıverdi was appointed Deputy Commander of the Gendarmerie in Ankara.
Major General Cengiz Yıldız became Balıkesir Provincial Gendarmerie Commander.
Major General Murat Bulut was appointed Head of Public Order.
Brigadier General Cafer Öz became Hakkari Provincial Gendarmerie Commander.
COMMANDERS CHANGED IN 40+ PROVINCES
The new decree changed gendarmerie commanders in over 40 provinces, including Bursa, Antalya, Van, Hakkari, Şırnak, Bitlis, Hatay, Muğla, Kayseri, Sakarya, Kırklareli, and Giresun.
PROMOTIONS IN THE COAST GUARD COMMAND
Two rear admirals were promoted to vice admiral, and three colonels were promoted to rear admiral. Several admirals also received new assignments in regional commands and other leadership positions.
