Alanya Faces a Burnout Crisis!

The economic crisis in Alanya is deepening. In addition to 100,000 enforcement files carried over from 2024, another 19,600 files were added in the first seven months of 2025. Representatives of Alanya’s business community expressed concern, saying, “Alanya is being driven into collapse before our eyes.”
Rising economic hardships have led to a significant backlog in enforcement offices in Alanya. With nearly 100,000 files from 2024 and 19,600 new ones in 2025, the total has approached 120,000—meaning nearly one out of every three people in Alanya is facing legal debt enforcement. On average, 90 new files are opened each day. High inflation, declining purchasing power, fluctuating tourism income, and residence permit restrictions are cited as major causes. Most enforcement files involve credit card debts, promissory notes, rent, and utility payments.
‘ECONOMIC SLOWDOWN STRAINS THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY’
ALSİAD President Emrah Cezirioğlu said: “The rapid rise in enforcement cases clearly reflects the extent of the economic crisis in Alanya. Nearly one in three residents is affected. Cash flow issues are most evident in tourism, retail, and construction. Increasing operating costs, high rents, and limited access to financing have driven many into debt. While there is temporary relief during the tourism season, lasting recovery will require debt restructuring and economic support. We believe in the resilience and business acumen of the Turkish people. With patience and common sense, we will overcome this. Now is the time for unity—for the future of Alanya.”
