Boat captain in Alanya stands trial for drug charges

At the Alanya 1st High Criminal Court, boat captain H.K., who is detained for “Drug Trafficking,” appeared before the judge on August 7. The suspect, brought to the hearing by Alanya Prison Battalion Command teams, had his trial postponed to October 15.

During the hearing before the temporary court panel, the judge asked H.K. about his profession. H.K. confirmed that he works as a boat captain at Alanya Pier and is known by the nickname “Japon.” He was asked about the allegation that on January 25, 2025, he sold drugs on A4 paper to Onur Ş. and Halil İbrahim G. H.K. said, “I do not traffic drugs; I am a user. I obtained this substance from Antalya Zeytin Neighborhood.” When asked how the 140 doses of methamphetamine on A4 paper found at his home were consumed, H.K. replied, “We used it together with Halil İbrahim G. The red pieces were mine, the orange ones belonged to Halil İbrahim. I did not sell them for money.”

Another defendant, Onur Şahin E., participated in the hearing via SEGBİS from Adana Open Prison. He stated that he worked as a guide at Alanya Pier and collaborated with H.K. “H.K. messaged me saying he would buy the substance. I went to his house, received the drugs, paid for them, and then the police caught us. I don’t remember the exact amount I paid,” he said. The judge reminded him that he had previously stated paying 700 TL.

The defense lawyers requested H.K.’s release under travel restrictions, house arrest, or judicial control, citing his detention period, employment, and low flight risk. The court decided to proceed under Article 191 of the Turkish Penal Code for H.K., to bring Halil İbrahim G. forcibly to the next hearing, to continue H.K.’s detention, and to postpone the hearing to October 15.

H.K. (35) was arrested on January 25, 2025, after Alanya Narcotics teams raided his house in Güllerpınarı Neighborhood, seizing 140 doses of methamphetamine on A4 paper.
