If schools in Alanya ask you for this fee, do not pay it

Despite the ban by Minister of Education Yusuf Tekin, compulsory fees under the name of “donations” continue to be requested from parents in public schools across Turkey, including Alanya.
As the new school year approaches, allegations have emerged that in many public schools across Turkey, including Alanya, parents are being asked for large amounts of money under the name of “donations.” Some parents reported being asked for registration fees of up to 400,000 TL. Despite Minister Yusuf Tekin’s warning that “registration fees cannot be charged in schools,” this practice continues, raising concerns about equal opportunities in education.
Reason cited by school administrations – budget insufficiency:
School administrations claim that they request support from parents due to additional financial needs to cover expenses such as cleaning, security, and maintenance. However, this justification contradicts Minister Tekin’s statements. Administrators argue that due to budget shortages, the practice of requesting fees under the name of “donations” continues.
Minister Tekin’s centralized registration system and strict ban message:
Minister of Education Yusuf Tekin stated that registrations are carried out electronically and based on addresses, saying, “It is not possible for school principals to request registration fees or charges for class selection.” Tekin emphasized that pressures for teacher or class choices are also prevented, and that the centralized placement system blocks such irregularities. He stated that these practices are incompatible with the goal of providing fair and equal opportunities in education.
