Municipal police are patrolling in Antalya.

With the increase in market shopping during winter preparations, strict inspections are coming to Antalya against tricks aimed at deceiving consumers. From labels to scales, every detail will be monitored, and those who do not comply with the rules will face heavy fines.
As households in Antalya speed up preparations for winter by making tomato paste, canned goods, jams, and pickles, market activity has visibly increased. Along with this intensity, it has come to light that some vendors have resorted to deceptive practices. Local inspection teams have now taken action against these consumer-deceiving methods.
ADMINISTRATIVE SANCTIONS ANNOUNCED
Among the most common complaints are vendors placing good-quality products in the front while hiding rotten or damaged ones at the back, using misleading labels, under-weighing, and failing to display prices clearly. Authorities explained in detail the administrative sanctions to be applied against such practices.
FINES
According to Law No. 5957, sellers who put products of different quality in the same packaging, under-weigh at the scale, or use misleading information on labels will be fined 3,541 TL. If product prices or quantity information are written in fonts too small to read or displayed in a confusing manner, a fine of 1,707 TL will be imposed.
NO TAMPERING WITH PRODUCT DOCUMENTS
Additionally, those who shout loudly in a way that disturbs the surroundings while trying to attract customers will be fined 881 TL. The heaviest fine will be imposed on those who tamper with product documentation, with penalties reaching up to 88,663 TL for such fraudulent actions.
Authorities called on citizens to report non-compliant vendors at markets to the municipal police or provincial agricultural directorate. Vendors were also warned: “Act honestly, earn trust, and avoid fines.”
