Ahead of the 2025-2026 academic year, school bus fees in Alanya have been raised.

In the Mahmutlar district, fees have increased by 65%, worrying parents. Last year, the monthly fee was 2,000 TL, but in the new term, it has risen to 3,300 TL.

Rising costs made the hike inevitable

School bus operator Ömer Yeşilkaya explained that the main reason for the increase was rising costs. He pointed out that constant fuel price hikes, vehicle maintenance expenses, insurance premiums, and other operational costs made this price adjustment unavoidable. “Not only fuel, but also tires, spare parts, insurance, and driver salaries have risen sharply. To ensure safe and comfortable transportation for our students, we must cover these expenses. Updating the prices was inevitable to maintain quality service standards,” he said.

This price hike means an additional burden for families already struggling with economic difficulties. Many parents are worried that the rising transportation costs will heavily impact their household budgets. The decision has once again sparked debate about balancing the cost of safe school transport services with families’ ability to pay.
