Decision on Jelert: Southampton rejects after 3 matches

Right back Elias Jelert, initially acquired by Galatasaray and then loaned out, has failed to impress at Southampton — after just 3 appearances, the club decided not to retain him.

The Dane, signed from Copenhagen for €9 million, underperformed and showed lackluster behavior in training, prompting Southampton to decline exercising the €8.5 million purchase option.

Jelert managed 99 minutes on the pitch across those three matches and did not register any goals or assists. His contract with Galatasaray runs until 2029, and he is expected to return after the season.
