Vehicle owners notice: within 2 months commercial vehicles without cameras won’t pass inspection

Under a new regulation approved by the Karayolları Trafik Kurumu, from January 1 2026 taxi, minibus, bus and service vehicles must be equipped with cameras, tracking systems, video recorders and emergency buttons. Vehicles lacking this equipment will face fines and fail inspection.

The regulation was published on August 19 2025. Implementation is being phased based on vehicle model year: vehicles from 2023–2025 must comply by January 1 2026; 2018–2022 by January 1 2027; 2017 and older by January 1 2028.

Owners who fail to install the system risk penalties and inspection refusal. Basic camera systems cost around 2 000 TL.
