Ankara-Alanya Flight Route Terminated: Strong Backlash in Alanya

Airline AJet has announced the termination of flights on the Ankara → Alanya (via Gazipaşa Airport) route, prompting strong objections from the local community.
Eray Erdem, President of the Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALTSO), strongly criticized the move, warning it will impede regional development and efforts to extend tourism year-round.
He emphasized that Gazipaşa Airport ranks 9th nationally in international capacity, and withdrawing service on the route is a step backward for the region.
The decision by AJet was reportedly made without consultation with local authorities or the tourism sector, causing dismay among residents and businesses that rely on connectivity with Ankara for trade and access.
Observers expect AJet or government officials to clarify the reasoning behind the cancellation and consider revising the decision.
