Transport Outcry in Alanya Amid Tourism Boom and Rising Rent Prices

In Alanya, multiple trends are converging: foreign tourism is booming, housing rents are surging, and residents are voicing grievances over transport shortcomings.
— According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Turkey welcomed 49.9 million visitors in the first nine months of 2025, and Alanya remains one of the Mediterranean’s most popular destinations.
— At the same time, rent ceilings were set at +37.15%, while average monthly rents in the city now start at 15,000 TL and can reach up to 40,000 TL.
— The transportation issue drew particular attention when airline AJet cancelled the Gazipaşa-Ankara route, prompting legislative complaints by Deputy Aykut Kaya, who called the decision “unfair” for the region.
Locals argue that the rental price surge is not matched by improvements in infrastructure: traffic congestion and limited options are becoming a burden, even as tourist numbers climb. Analysts stress that maintaining a healthy balance among tourism growth, resident needs and the housing market will require targeted policies and local governance.
