Gas Pipeline Works in Alanya Continue at Full Speed

Natural gas infrastructure projects are progressing rapidly in Alanya. Excavation and pipe-laying have begun in the Çıplaklı and Oba neighborhoods, with plans to connect 3,300 homes to the grid.
According to Alanya’s Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik, more than 80% of Alanya is expected to have access to natural gas by 2029–2030.
The municipality is also renewing utilities along Atatürk Avenue, including water, electricity, and gas lines, to avoid unplanned excavations in the future.
Local authorities report that land acquisition for the pipeline route has been completed, and zoning plans are being updated.
The project is expected to deliver both economic benefits—namely lower heating costs—and environmental advantages. Still, some experts warn of safety risks associated with the construction work.
Analysis & Outlook:
Introducing natural gas to Alanya could be a game-changer for both residents and the tourism industry. Lower energy costs in the winter could significantly improve household comfort.
Strong coordination between the city government, BOTAŞ, and other institutions increases the chances of smooth project execution. Nevertheless, careful planning is essential to prevent disruption to roads and public infrastructure during construction.
If the rollout goes as planned, natural gas could become a widely used, eco-friendly heating option, boosting both quality of life and environmental sustainability in Alanya.
