Turkey was visited by more than 17 million people in the first five months of 2024

Turkey hosted 17,809,078 visitors in the January-May period of 2024, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism data. During this period, Turkey was visited by 15,784,213 foreign visitors and 2,024,865 Turkish citizens residing abroad.

The total number of visitors reached 17,809,078. Foreign visitor numbers during this period increased by 12.47% compared to the same period last year.

In May, the number of foreign visitors to Turkey increased by 14% compared to the same month last year, reaching 5,130,119.

In May, the Russian Federation ranked first in the list of countries sending the most visitors to Turkey, with a 15.32% increase and 739,017 visitors. Germany followed with 729,505 visitors, marking an 18.12% increase, while the United Kingdom sent 550,592 visitors, showing a 21.62% increase. Bulgaria and Poland followed these countries.

Germany topped the list of countries sending the most visitors to Turkey in the first five months of this year, with a 16.20% increase and 1,122,930 visitors. The Russian Federation ranked second with 1,078,294 visitors, followed by Iran with a 51.78% increase and 946,437 visitors. Bulgaria and the United Kingdom followed these countries.
