Hüseyin Yayman, the Head of the Digital Media Commission, stated that TikTok is a national security issue for Turkey. He expressed that the content shared on the platform is strange and unrealistic, and that approving such content is impossible.
Yayman also addressed the issue of whether TikTok will be closed, stating that the commission does not have a stance on restricting access to the platform and emphasized that the decision rests with the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK).
Expanding on this topic, the commission chairman emphasized that politics should be conducted with the people and noted that citizens want TikTok to be closed.
Recently, TikTok has been in the spotlight due to a trend where users simulate hugging Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, using artificial intelligence. Many users are sharing videos of themselves "hugging" Atatürk through AI. These posts receive mixed reactions: some view them as respectful, while others criticize them as disrespectful to the founder of our country.
