Another quake in the Mediterranean — tremors felt in Alanya

A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck in the Mediterranean Sea near Cyprus at 17:23 local time.

According to reports, the tremor was also felt in Alanya, part of a sequence of seismic events including magnitudes 5.2, 4.8 and 4.2 earlier in the day.

Preliminary data from Turkey’s AFAD and other monitoring agencies suggest there is an elevated risk of aftershocks. Residents in coastal zones are advised to:

Move away from windows and walls during shaking;

Avoid low-lying and shoreline areas if tremors are felt;

Follow instructions from official alerts and authorities.

No major damage or casualties have been reported so far.
