Antalya and Alanya are struggling with this issue! Everyone is fed up

Turkey's tourism jewel, Antalya, is grappling with a chronic traffic problem due to the increasing population and tourism density.
Antalya, a city that hosts millions of tourists each year and is known as Turkey's tourism gem, faces a serious traffic issue due to this high level of interest. Hours-long traffic jams on the city's main roads negatively affect both locals and tourists. Erdoğan Budak, President of the International Trade and Cooperation Council (ATİK) Antalya, views Antalya's traffic problem as a disease. Budak says, "In a city known as the tourism capital, traffic congestion that negatively impacts tourists' vacation experiences is unacceptable. This situation not only harms the city's image but also reduces tourists' desire to return."
According to Budak, tourists arriving in Antalya are taking much longer to cover distances that they could reach in a shorter time in their own countries due to the hours-long traffic. This situation negatively impacts both the tourists' vacation plans and the revenues of tourism businesses in the city.
The Need for a Joint Approach to the Solution
To find a solution to Antalya's traffic problem, local governments, representatives of the tourism sector, and other relevant institutions need to work together. Erdoğan Budak, President of ATİK, states, "Solving the traffic problem is not only the responsibility of municipalities but a problem that must be addressed through the joint efforts of all stakeholders. When Antalya's traffic issue is resolved, it will revitalize the tourism sector and improve the quality of life for the city's residents."
2024 Goal and Transportation Infrastructure
Antalya, which aims to host 17 million tourists in 2024, must have a transportation infrastructure capable of handling this volume. It is essential to focus on improving urban and intercity transportation, developing public transport systems, and encouraging alternative transportation methods.
