The Biggest Nuisance in Antalya and Alanya! 90 Intersections Blocking Traffic

On the D-400 Highway, one of the most important transportation routes that connects the southern part of Turkey from end to end, there are approximately 90 traffic intersections, both signalized and non-signalized, from the Tosmur neighborhood to the entrance of Antalya city center. This situation negatively affects travel between Antalya and Alanya. According to calculations made by Alanya Posta Medya, the density of these intersections creates a significant issue by extending the travel time for citizens.
Detailed calculations by Alanya Posta Medya show that there are about 90 intersections from the Tosmur neighborhood to the entrance of Antalya city center. Most of these intersections are signalized, which seriously affects travel times between Antalya and Alanya. Citizens who cannot reach their destination between Antalya and Alanya in less than 3 hours are complaining about the situation, while drivers who are constantly stopping and starting face issues related to both time loss and fuel consumption. Particularly in the area up to Serik, the excessive increase in traffic density is one of the most noticeable points of the problem.
"We Want a Road, Nothing More"
Ali Akkaya, President of the Alanya Drivers, Transporters, and Automobilists Tradesmen Chamber, made exclusive statements to Alanya Posta Medya regarding this issue. Akkaya noted that there is excessive congestion, especially in the area up to Serik. Highlighting that this congestion is causing serious problems on the road, Akkaya stated that the existing road needs to be improved as soon as possible. He added, "This road is essential for both the public and the tradespeople. Until the highway is built, improvements need to be made to the existing road. Next week, the Regional Director of Antalya Highways, Hasan Sarıoğlan, will visit Alanya, and we will present him with a file on this matter. We want a road; we don't want anything else."
"TRAFFIC LIGHTS ARE KILLING PEOPLE"
Akkaya pointed out that various improvements could be made to the existing road, stating: "Lane additions can be made. In available areas, many overpasses and underpasses can be constructed. The constant stop-and-go, and traffic lights are already killing people. This issue needs to be resolved urgently." He emphasized that while it takes five hours to travel from Germany to Antalya, it takes three hours to travel from Antalya to Alanya, which he finds unacceptable.
