In Alanya, the prices of school uniforms have increased: Parents are in shock!

With the start of the school year approaching, clothing shopping has intensified. School uniforms, which have appeared on the racks, have increased by 50-60%.
With only a few days left before the start of the 2024-2025 school year, both stationery stores and those selling school uniforms have completed their preparations. Families with lower and middle incomes, struggling with the high cost of living and inflation, have begun to worry about the upcoming school year. The price increase for school uniforms is particularly burdensome.
60% PRICE INCREASE
As new products make their appearance on the racks, the tradition of price increases for the new season continues. According to reports, school uniforms in Alanya have risen by 50-60%. Vendors, who have not even made their first sales, and families are facing financial difficulties.
“PURCHASING POWER IS VERY LOW”
Vendor Hüseyin Çakal pointed out that while preparations for the school season are complete, the situation for vendors is not bright. “People's purchasing power is very weak. Unfortunately, we are in a lot of trouble. Our prices have risen by 50-60%. Last year, our T-shirts were 200 lira, but this year they are 300-350 lira. We are trying our best to help every citizen meet their needs, but it is still not enough. Another issue is that schools are now less strict about uniform requirements compared to previous years. As a result, parents do not buy uniforms unless the school requires them. The number of parents who do not buy uniforms is very high. Even the lowest prices we set are not accepted. People's preferences have changed a lot. A product that I sell for 100 lira is not purchased, but the same product is bought in a chain store for 400 lira. Support for vendors has completely disappeared. We are working hard to dress every child, but the economy does not allow it,” he said.
