Mother's killer stands trial in Alanya: how much punishment will he receive?

In Alanya, at the 1st Heavy Criminal Court, the verdict hearing for Süleyman S., who stabbed his mother Fatma Sevinç to death, will take place today. The defendant confessed that he killed his mother with only one stab.

Süleyman S. will attend the hearing via video link from the Alanya L-Type Closed Prison, facing charges of "Murder with monstrous feeling or inflicting suffering on a close relative." The defendant's lawyer and the victim's representative, Ümit Sevinç, will also be present at the hearing.

During the last session, Süleyman S. stated that he did not wish to defend himself and accepted his punishment. When the court president reminded him of his earlier statement, "I will speak in court," Süleyman S. expressed a desire to see the autopsy reports.

ONE STAB WOUND

Süleyman S. claimed that he did not inflict 14 stab wounds, but only 1, and that his mother fell into the wardrobe. He also asserted that other wounds on her body were due to scabies.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The incident occurred on May 3, 2023, in the Hacet neighborhood of Alanya. Following a report from neighbors, the police found Fatma Sevinç's lifeless body wrapped in a blanket inside a wardrobe. After fleeing the scene, Süleyman S. was caught in Antalya and sent to the Alanya L-Type Closed Prison.
