Egg Prices Drop in Alanya: From 200 Lira Down to 100

Egg prices, which had surged due to the bird flu outbreak, have now decreased as the impact of the disease subsided and export activity slowed down.

In May 2024, a 30-pack of eggs was priced at 87.50 TL. By November 2024, it had risen to 119.50 TL. On February 15, eggs were sold at an average of 159.50 TL, reaching 200 TL in early March. Today, the price has dropped to around 100 TL.

CHAMBER PRESIDENT: PRICES RETURNING TO NORMAL

Süleyman Hilmi Özdemir, President of the Alanya Grocers and Dealers Chamber, commented on the price drop, stating that the rise in egg prices caused by the bird flu outbreak has begun to normalize as the disease loses its impact.

“CONSUMERS ARE HAPPY, PRODUCERS ARE WORRIED”

Özdemir noted that the expected tourism activity did not materialize, and tensions in Iran have also led to a moderate pace in exports.

“These developments have directly affected the market prices. As a chamber, we have never supported high prices. Right now, producers are unhappy, while consumers are pleased with the price decline,” he said.

Özdemir emphasized that egg producers are struggling with increasing costs, and added that achieving stability in the market would benefit both producers and consumers.
